The Death of Summer

Serotinal is one of my favorite words.

But as a concept, it’s bittersweet. It’s a word to denote the latter part of the summer. While it’s still hot and dry, the peak of energy radiating down on us has passed. the light has started to shift, still golden, but lower in the sky.

The death of summer is near.

This time of year, I pause and collect myself. Review the year and plan. Each year I live in the northeast, I am newly surprised to make it through winter…so imagine my surprise that the sun is lowering in the sky again. But it’s also time to rest and enjoy fruit that’s been left to ripen on the vine.

I propose that we enjoy the time, some wine, and what’s left of my tan before it fades…

For the remainder of August, I will be in/around NYC.

I will be unavailable for the first bit of September, and then it will be very easy to find me anywhere (FMTY) or in the NYC metro area. I am still planning a visit to Washington DC in October. Other than that, no plans to travel. I hope we will get to catch up soon…Pre-booking is, as always, very highly encouraged.
